WHO WE ARE

Building a Community Through Movement and Connection

AcroCamp is a unique sanctuary where the art of movement and the beauty of human connections intertwine under the open skies. Here, we go beyond the physical aspects of AcroYoga and acrobatics; we explore the essence of trust, collaboration, and mutual growth while doing the activities you love most.

A Celebration of Human Connection, Artistry, and Adventure Since 2012

It’s a full-on summer camp that you might have gone to if you were one of those kids lucky enough to go to one of those camps that they always had in the National Lampoon movies. The camp covers 150 acres of wooded hills and valleys with trails running throughout. There are rustic cabins for sleeping in the main camp area. The main lodge features a dining area with a huge stone hearth and a modern kitchen. Crooked Leg Creek provides a natural play area and lulls campers to sleep at night.

Everything else you know and love about AcroCamp will be the same as it’s always been. We’re a community built by and supported by you. It’s a place to see old friends and make new ones. It’s a place to share what you might have to teach, to learn along the way, and most importantly, to create, play, and explore what it means to be an acroyogi, an acrobat, a creative soul, and a human in a community with others.

PLAY

When we play, we’re fully present in the moment. We become open to the mystery and the wonder that lies in front of us, and we can release our past experiences and innocently plunge into the world of possibility. As we engage in acroyoga, acrobatics, circus arts, and other activities, we rediscover the freedom to express ourselves, connect, and experience unfiltered, unscripted joy.

SUPPORT

As we learn new skills and find ourselves challenged to advance, it’s helpful to have people around us who offer us insights and encouragement. As we play, develop, and grow in our practice, the people around us do all of that while they hold us up in the air.

COMMUNICATE

Partnerships need partners to succeed. Success is achieved through a process of clearly communicating your needs and hearing what your partner’s needs are so that both of you can become successful in your efforts. Through play, you learn to crystalize your ability to both communicate what you need and hear what your partner needs. It’s through negotiating these mutual needs that you find success together.

TRUST

As we play with people we put a little trust in them initially. As we have repeated interactions our trust in knowing how they are going to respond deepens. AcroYoga requires that we place our trust in ourselves in the people we play with and for them to place their trust in us. Trust is the first pillar in having solid relationships with the people around us.

COMMUNITY

As we play we communicate with our partners; working together, we build trust in them that they will be there to support us in our practice. This builds relationships; it builds friends. You connect with the people that you play with. It’s those connections that become a community of friends around you.

The AcroCamp Experience

As much as we tried to encapsulate the essence of the AcroCamp experience in words, we find ourselves humbled – because the experience here is truly beyond words. It’s an invitation to join a journey where the heart speaks a language known only to those who have danced in the magic of AcroCamp – an experience that whispers, laughs, soars, and defies the very definition of expression.

MEET THE MIND BEHIND ACROCAMP

Hi, I’m Joe!

Hey there! I’m Joe, the founder of AcroCamp. I’m all about bringing joy and fun into the world of movement. I’ve been a certified AcroYogaMTL teacher and a 500-hour certified yoga instructor since 2011. Beyond yoga, my interests led me to explore Taoism, shamanism, different energy practices, and Thai bodywork.

But that’s not all—I’m a bit of a spinning enthusiast. I’ve competed internationally in the Cyr Wheel, representing Team USA in the 2016 World Championships and grabbing second place in the 2017 USA Championships. For me, teaching is not just a job; it’s a passion. My classes are filled with laughter and joy, even as we take on new challenges. I believe in focusing on what makes us feel good because that’s where real growth happens.

In my classes, expect a friendly and playful atmosphere. I’m here to push you a bit, encouraging you to go beyond what you think you can do. So, if you’re up for some movement exploration, pushing your limits, and having a good time, I’m excited to share the journey with you. Let’s make every stretch and turn a celebration of what our bodies and minds can achieve!
